The Delta North Senatorial District Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Elder Moses Iduh, has applauded the success of the just concluded ward-to-ward campaigns of the party in the area, with the conclusion that the party will win the elections in Delta State any day it is organized.

The PDP chieftain gave the success evaluation of the campaigns in an interview with journalists at the end of the four weeks campaign, which took the party to nine local government areas in the Senatorial District with 98 wards.

Commenting on the experiences gathered, he stated that the party decided to embark on the ward-to-ward campaigns, as it’s one of the major political strategies to evaluate the feelings of the electorate, on their pains, needs and to establish a way forward for the next government.

He pointed out that people are bound to express their problems, and this will help articulate the policies of the government to solve some of these problems, as all human needs may not be met at once.

“Going to the grassroots to know their pains, their feelings is very important. With this in mind, we will write down some of their requests, so that in the next government, some of these issues will be attended to.

“Going through the terrain of these wards, like the roads of these areas, helps you to have a firsthand insight of what the people feel and may need. This helps for good governance,” he explained.

On the issue that PDP during the period of the campaign did not factor the traditional institutions in the communities visited into their plans, the party chairman said that such issues should not arise, as the main focus of the visits to wards was to get members of the PDP ready for the 2023 election, and instruct them on what to do to ensure victory for the party come 2023.

He explained  that the party in the course of its local government campaigns and unit-to-unit campaigns will visit the traditional institutions, as they are very important in the governance of the State.

“The PDP can never push aside the traditional institution in our campaigns. What we just did was meeting with our party members to let them know what they should do as the election draws near.

“We have the local government campaigns, which will be followed by the unit-to-unit campaigns, at this unit-by-unit campaign, we will meet with traditional institutions. They are very vital in the scheme of our party. They have not been forgotten,” he assured.

On  possible threats from the opposition parties in the state, Elder Iduh reechoed the reports from its encounters from the party leadership at the Ward levels, that the party has no opposition in the State and no threat as they are not afraid of winning.

“There is no threat to the PDP in the state, not only in Delta North, but also from feelers from the other two Senatorial District, the story is the same.

“I can tell you, if we do the election anytime, any day in Delta State, the PDP will win. We are not afraid of winning.” He stated.

The party chairman also dwelt on what seems to be the semblance of followership of the opposition parties, especially the All Progressive Congress (APC), which he explained, that having followers does not translate to winning an election.

He mocked the main opposition party’s ward–to-ward campaign as poorly executed “copycat job” .

“They may have semblance of followers, but having followers does not translate to winning an election. For the APC, their ward-to-ward campaign is just a poorly executed copycat job, there’s  nothing in it.” He declared.
