Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Honourable Yakubu Sanda has debunked rumours that he lobbied for the office.

He said that it is not true he lobbied anybody to become the Speaker of the House in view  of the politics of blackmail over the impeachment saga.

“I never dreamed of becoming the Speaker. I have never gone anywhere to lobby for the seat of the Speakership.

“My becoming the Speaker is just the will of God. What I know is that the people of Pengana Constituency, mandated me to represent them and today God has made me to become the speaker”.

The lawmaker who became the Speaker following the  leadership wranglings that rocked the Assembly in recent times, said this while receiving Jere Community Leaders who visited him in Jos.

He added that the Assembly under his leadership will work closely with Governor Simon Lalong’s led administration for the overall benefit of the people of Plateau State.

Speaker Sanda urged the people to pray for peace and security of the state, adding that people must learn to live peacefully with one another irrespective of their religious or ethnic differences.

“We cannot succeed when the three arms of government are not working together, so I assure that I will work with our leader, Governor Simon Lalong, so that we can succeed,”

The President of Jere National Development Association (JNDA) in Bassa LGA, Pastor Samuel Mamma who spoke earlier, said their visit was to show solidarity to him and urged the people of the state to work with Sanda so that he would play his role in moving the state forward.

The APC supporters in the local government saw the election of Sanda as opportunity for the area to be in the mainstream of the state.
