The Kaduna State gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi has disclosed that after four decades on the political scene, he has decided to remain relevant to flush out those that have no business being there.
Hunkuyi expressed this, while fielding questions at the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC), Kaduna State Council Political Committee Interactive Meeting With Gubernatorial candidates of All Political Parties in the state on Monday in Kaduna.
“Hunkuyi’s 40 yrs of partisanship cannot be swept under the carpet.
NNPP is out to remove the present government but the fear is that the next Kaduna State Government can be formed in default and people will be in for it,” he said.
Hunkuyi warned that people must resist such attempts, because there is already a division in Kaduna.
Speaking further, he assured that
there would be no more disengagement of workers under NNPP administration.
He said, “as for non payment of pension, a joint committee will be put in place to get to the root of the matter and to ascertain where and how it was managed.
“With honesty, determination, we would get to the root of the matter because everyone who has been laid off deserves a fair treatment, to know who has gotten what, and who has not gotten what. For such to be actualized, the cooperation of the Labour union will be needed,” he said.
According to him, the exodus of workers is a big industrial crisis which must be urgently addressed.
On the present financial status of the state, he said that it is nothing to write home about.
“Looking at the revenue profile of Kaduna State, from where are we going to get the money to run the state?” He asked rhetorically.
He said that, vompounding the issue is the recent announcement of change in currency notes.
“The present increase in Dollar has brought untold sufferings on the people. Here we are today, we are going to get five thousand Naira note and others, which we presently do not have,” he lamented.
He vowed that, “come 2023, if by God’s grace I occupy the number one seat, Kaduna State budget will be reviewed by using supplementary budget.”
Hunkuyi will be contesting against Isa Mohammed Ashiru of Peopleās Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the governorship candidates of other political parties come 2023 elections.
