A group under the auspices of Nigeria Citizens Movement for Good Governance, has noted that the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu to appoint Dr Abdullahi Umaru Ganduje as the chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has led to dissatisfaction and disunity among a lot of loyal party members in the North.

The Convener of the group, Aminu Haruna Maipampo, in a statement, expressed total dismay over  the continuation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dr Abdullahi Umaru Ganduje assumed the acting chairmanship of the APC after the voluntary resignation of  Dr. Abdullahi Adamu as the chairman of the party in July 2023.

He said, “It is pertinent to note that, it was wrong in the first place for President Tinubu to endorse the appointment of Ganduje as party’s chairman, knowing fully that the chairmanship of the party ought to be retained in the North Central, which is the zone of the erstwhile chairman,  Dr. Abdullahi Adamu. This has led to dissatisfaction and disunity among a lot of loyal party members in the North.”

He called on the acting National chairman of the APC, Ganduje to as a matter of urgency, step down to allow that exalted position to be occupied by a competent person from the North Central in order to allow for justice and fairness.

He stressed, “Failure to relinquish his position in the next seven working days, we will be compelled to mobilize thousands of party faithful and support groups to protest and shut down the APC National Headquarters in Abuja until the Acting Chairman resigns.”

The convener called on all party faithfuls and support groups who have shown  interest in this course to remain calm and resolute till we give further directives.
