Exposure To Social Media Destroying Children’s Moral, Spiritual Senses – Mallam Abdusalam

The Director of Ali Institute for Qur’an memorisation, Ibadan, Mallam Ali Temitope Abdussalam on Sunday blamed undue exposure of children to social media as factor destroying their moral and spiritual senses.

Mallam Abdusalam stated this in Ibadan while speaking at the 2022 graduation of students of the institute held in Ibadan.
According to Mallam Abdusalam, there is the need for parents to give their children the moral upbringing and teachings they needed to prepare for the future.
The Director of Ali Institute for Qur’an memorisation,

emphasized that parents should give their children properly training before they become adults. 
According to Mallam Abdusalam the society is already getting more corrupt daily as children are exposed to negativity in music, movies and other social media that are mostly destructive to their moral and spiritual senses.
” Unfortunately, parents that are expected to explain to these innocent children the evils in the society, their effects and how to avoid them are busy seeking daily livelihood and not having enough time to guide these children”, he said.
Mallam Abdusalam, “we understand that it is not only Islam that has solutions to these problems as our religion instructs us to condemn evils and command good.Always remember that failure to give the children the spiritual diet they need today will lead them to regret in future regardless of their level of western education,” 
On the institute mission , the Director stressed that  the institute took it upon itself to train Muslim children to memorise the Quran and as well teaches them Islamic morals, etiquettes and values, and that 55 students who has completely memorised  the Quran and understanding their responsibilities toward the creator are graduating at the institute.
Mallam Abdusalam maintained that the institute has among other things in it’s five years of existence trained 900 students for different programmes while a total of 105 students had become memoriser of the Quran.
Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Abba Muhammad in his remarks lauded parents for bringing their children from different part of the country to the institute, saying the prophet encouraged Quran Memorisation and it was rewarding by Allah.
According to Hon Muhammad,  ” Quran memorisation and understanding distance one from commiting evil and be closer to the creator”, and that Muslims should balance Islamic education with western education.
