Experts Visit ABU For Verification At Centres Of Excellence

A team of experts from the World Bank, National Universities Commission (NUC) and Association of African Universities (AAU) visited Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) to verify the quality of the infrastructure and utilisation of the Information Communication Technology  (ICT) network.

The teams led by Mrs. Irene Dufie Addai, was at the institution’s Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE) and Africa Centre of Excellence on Neglected Tropical Diseases and Forensic Biotechnology (ACENTDFB).

They commended the University for the quality of lecture rooms inspected and urged that students hostels should further be improved. 

Speaking when members of the team called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, Mrs. Addai disclosed that ABU had qualified for the allocation of two million dollars for the improvement of its infrastructure and ICT facilities. 

Also speaking, the representative of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Mr. Obiechefu Ukwuagu, urged the University Management to consider all the identified areas that needed intervention and give the centres all the necessary support to achieve the objectives for which they were established.  

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, represented by the Director, Directorate of University Advancement, Prof. Sani Abba Aliyu, appreciated the team for the visit and assured that the University would remain committed towards achieving the set objective.
