Determined to rise against alleged continuous ill-treatment of their community in terms of allocations of political offices in the years past,the sons and daughters of Ise-Ekiti Kingdom in the South Senatorial District of Ekiti State, have vowed to from now onwards withdraw their support for the incumbent Governor of the State,Dr Kayode Fayemi and former Governor Ayodele Fayose.
The group expressed worries over the ill-treatments meted to them by the two political gladiators in the state in spite of the huge support, loyalty and patronage they had enjoyed over the years from the teeming populace of the people in the area.
They made the threats against the two political stalwarts in a statement signed by the General Secretary of “Akinluaduse In Diaspora”, Hon. Tosin Fagbamigbe and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti,the Ekiti State capital.
The statement reads in part:
“We “Akinluaduse” both abraod and at home are in one voice saying “we are tired of the political games across party divides have been playing with us in their continous bid to achieve their selfish ends and except they are willing to change by giving us a better deal,we may not cooperate any longer with them.
“We the sons and daughters of Ise-Ekiti kingdom in diaspora have had enough of the outcry of our people vis-a-vis the unfolding events in our polity and how the odds have been tweaked to the disadvantage of our people almost perennially.
“We can no longer bear the worthless endurance neither preach it to our people as it now clear that it wouldn’t bear any fruits, hence the need to come on board and demand that the two notable leaders of the two dominant parties in the state should come clean and tell us what our people have done to them, that warranted the continous cutting of wings, backstabbing,
“It is no longer news that as a people,we have contributed immensely in the development and fostering of peace across the state through our imput in the little capacities various administrations had afforded us by sticking to the rules.
“Our contributions remain a solid and tremendous one following our track records with both PDP and APC at everytime we have been opportuned to serve in the little capacity we have been offered. It is however sad that inspite of all,we have continued to be sidestepped for bigger opportunities and that begs the question what is the reward for unflinching and dogmatic following?what have the two parties we have casted our lot with since 1999 done to reciprocate the measure we have given to them in terms of vote?
“Our question is directed to the two gladiators who have ruled the state succesively in recent times namely His excellencies Dr Kayode Fayemi and Peter Ayodele Fayose,and we beg the entire Ekiti people to help in asking them…
“What has Ise-Ekiti done to you to make you vow with vehemence to always clamp down on their sons and their daughters at the cusp of any political progress or elevation?
“We have made so much sacrifices and usually get commitment from you.We have always honored our own part of the agreement,but what we have always gotten in return are spat in the faces and unremorseful betrayer without recourse to the gentleman agreement sealing our relationship with you.
“”You channeled numerous developmental projects to your town and do not deem our own town for any, leaving our town shorn of development and also denying our sons and daughters the opportunity to thrive in their continous quest to make a meaninful difference in the town through their aspirations.I know that,what will occupy your thought as you read this are the measly positions like commissioner,special Advisers,or LG chairmen often given to appendages and lackeys,which you have been doling out to some of our brothers.
“You and i know that such insignificant position can hardly drive nor attract any meaningful development to a town. You all are aware of that apt aphorism that ‘When a goat is pushed to the wall,it can knock its attackers. Don’t you think that our unassailable efforts and unbroken love for you,in the bid to fostering peace and our passionate drive for unity as well as the usual co-operation of our people in aligning at all times with the party decision and her leadership,speaking in one voice at all times even to our detriment atimes have now being overstretched?
“Don’t you across party divides have conscience that pricks you about your various injustices to us and make effort to amend them where neccesary?
“Ise-Ekiti is a land blessed with beautiful vegetations,geographical attractions with fertile land,beautiful landscape locked in the southern senatorial constituency of the state that only needs a push to unravel her numerous potentials,yet you both have continously obstruct and non-commital to the growth and meaningful development of our town inspite of our unflinching support and readily available assets over the years.
“We have capable sons and daughters with requisite qualification both home and abroad willing to deploy their expertise to the state and bring about the much elusive development the town has long being yearning for.We are tired of the inconsequential positions and meaningless portfolio dole out to console our people after being willing tools in their bids to achieve their self a serving dreams.
“It is not too much,if we are given a senatorial slot.what do others you have favored with universities,colleges of educations,polytechnics amongst other significant projects have that we don’t have in Ise-Ekiti?Are you saying we do not have egg-heads who can serve as lawmakers in the red chambers as senators?
“How much more do we need to do than others that will make you end your game of deceit and manipulations,and give to us what we deserve,like you do to others.
“We are tired of this and we demand that you both do better in the coming political dispensation as you prepare to come and seek our vote once again.
“Our position is simple and clear.We are demanding yet again that both parties relate to us what we have done wrong to warrant the cold-shoulder attitude you have always used in reciprocating our unabated support that we have always rendered when needed.This we demand to know as it will no longer be business as usual except our grievances are given critical attention and a satisfactory solution that will be pleasing to our community is given,” they maintained.
