Eid-el Fitr: Celebration: Akwa Ibom Police Command Beef Up Security At Worship Centres

The Akwa Ibom State Police said it has tightened security around worship centres and in the state, with the deployment of 1,527 personnel.

Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) CSP Odiko MacDon stated this in a  statement made available to our correspondent in Uyo today.

MacDon also stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara has felicitated with Muslim faithful in the state on the occasion of the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

“The Commissioner of Police has ordered a tightened security around Mosques, prayer grounds, worship Centres and other parts of the State during and after the Salah celebrations by deploying by a total of one thousand, five hundred and twenty seven officers and men.

“The CP, while thanking Allah for bestowing on the  faithful the grace to start and complete the fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, prayed Allah to bless the state, the People and Muslims within the state and beyond.” MacDon stated.

According to him,  CP Ayilara has noted Ramadan as a month of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and devotion to Allah and called on Muslims to be steadfast in the pursuit of peace in the state and engage more  in acts of charity and kindness.

Furthermore, the CP has condemned the killing, and vowed to arrest, in the shortest possible time, the killers of one Sylvanus Ukpong who was murdered at Ifa Atai in a failed attempt to abduct him. 

While reiterating his commitment to providing security for residents of the state, the CP said perpetrators of violent crimes in the state will be arrested and held accountable.
