There was a peaceful protest on Tuesday at the gate of Adamawa State House of Assembly by some youth displaying placards protesting any move to remove or declare the seat of the member representing Michika Constituency, Hon Joseph Ayuba Kawada (Depolis) who recently defected to All Progressives Congress (APC), to People’s Democratic Party (PDP)..

The youth in their numbers, were chanting “leave our lawmaker alone, ” we say no to injustice and yes to justice”, we love Depolis leave him alone” when a plenary session was going on by the state lawmakers.

There has been a rumour of declaring the member’s seat vacant by the House of Assembly presided by Rt. Honourable Iya Abbas on Tuesday, but the House after exhausting what was on the order paper,  adjourned to Wednesday (today), April  27, 2023.

The protest was  as a result of Ayuba’s cross carpeting to APC from PDP.

The protesters attracted the attention of security agents who stormed the house and barricaded the Assembly complex.

The spokesman of the protest group, Honorable Koji Garta said that the plans to suspend the lawmaker is dead on arrival and they are willing to go to any length to fight the alleged  illegality.

Efforts to get the  reaction by the  House Committee Chairman on Information, Hon Kefas Japhet proved abortive as all calls put through his phone numbers were not  picked.
