The ongoing construction of Ɗanja Earth Dam in Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State would be completed if elected,
governor, Gubernatorial Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Dr.Dikko Umar Radda has assured.
Dr Umar Radda made the assurance at a rally in Danja town as part of his ongoing Campaign tour across the 34 local government areas in the state.
Contract for the construction of the earth dam in Danja according to a statement by Director, Media and Publicity of Katsina state APC campaign council, Alhaji Ahmed Abdulkadir was awarded in 2018 at the cost of more than seven billion Naira, with a completion period of 24 months.
He noted that, the work could not be completed “due to lack of mobilization of adequate manpower, especially professionals, lack of adequate earth moving equipment, unfavourable weather conditions and the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The project, Alhaji Ahmed Abdulkadir said, was under contractor/financier arrangement, includes a 13 kilometer access road linking Ɗanja to the dam site and passing through to Gozaki in the neighbouring Kafur Local Government Area.
Alhaji Abdulkadir explained that, “People in the area were known for large scale tomato farming and have been yearning for the project for the past two decades to boost irrigation and agriculture. consequently, Dr. Radda promised to assist them to boost farming through modern farming methods.”
Earlier, he said the Katsina State APC Gubernatorial Candidate had paid a sympathy visit to victims of fire incident at Funtua market where Properties worth millions of naira were lost in the inferno.
Dr Dikko Umar Radda during the visit donated five million Naira to the traders who suffered loss in the unfortunate incident.
Alhaji Ahmed Abdulkadir disclosed that, Candidate for APC Katsina South Senatorial District, Alhaji Muntari Ɗandutse, donated two million naira and the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Musa Adamu Funtua, also donated one million naira to the victims.
Alhaji Ahmed Abdulkadir said Dr Dikko Umar Radda was accompanied during the Campaign tour by his running mate, Honourable Faruk Lawal Joɓe, the Director-General, Katsina State APC Campaign Council, Arch. Ahmed Musa Ɗangiwa, the state Commissioner of Water Resources, Alhaji Musa Adamu Funtua and that of Health, Engr. Yakubu Nuhu as well as other contestants and many other important dignitaries.
