Ex Chief of Army Staff and present Minister for Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahaman Dambazau has on Tuesday held a follow-up closed-door meeting with heads of internal security operatives  in Abuja.
The meeting which was convened as s follow-up of the meeting held earlier with State Governors  over the violent clashes between farmers and herdsmen in Benue and other places did not ignore other issues such as proliferation of small fire arms and drug trafficking and abuse.
The ex service chief linked fire ams and drug abuse to the menace  insisting that without the aforementioned, such violence would lack the courage to be perpetrated.
He described the meeting as a follow-up  to analyse examine the situation and proffer the best solution.
The United Nations Regional Centre For Peace And Disarmament (UNRCPD)has confirmed that there are about 500 million assorted fire arms in West,Africa and about 350 millions of them are in Nigeria, the General quoted. The weapons were mostly sourced from Libya,he ascertained.
The supply of weapons to the North East  and South South insurgents also compounded issues as observed by the General.
In his quest to proffer solution, Dambazau identified porous borders as avenues and challenge the custom and immigration services to rise to the occasion, concluding that proliferation of weapons, drug trafficking and abuse propellers of the divergent violence.
