CUSTECH To Establish MBBS Faculty Soon

The Confluence University of Science and Technology, (CUSTECH) Osara in Kogi State is set to commence  four new medical programmes beginning from next academic session.

The Vice Chancellor, CUSTECH, Prof. Abdulrahman Salawu disclosed this over the weekend  in Osara as the media tour by the Nigeria Guild of Editors, (NGE) came visiting.

The new programmes according to Prof. Salawu are, anatomy, physiology, nursing and medical laboratory.

These courses, according to him, are to serve as prelude to the establishment of Faculty of Medicine (MBBS) which are sinqua non to the faculty.

Accordingly to him the management of the University has submitted to the National University Commission (NUC) the four courses for resources verification in April this year as precursor to the establishment of MBBS programme.

Prof.Abdulrahaman lauded the state government for timely release of funds for the upkeep of the tertiary institution as it gains national recognition.

“The law that established this university made it compulsory for State Government IGR five per cent statutorily. We receive it every month. But we are operating TSA. Whatever enters this account enters the Government account straight.

He said that the University operates a bed space of 180 which he promised to increase to 400 in no distant future time having been assured of the report he was given by State consultant last week  that there will be ground groundbreaking of 400-bed space for the student hostel by next week.

Speaking shortly, the President of Nigeria Gild of Editors, Mr Eze Anaba scored the Kogi State Government high in education sector of the state economy.

He expressed his optimism that Kogi State remains a citadel for the acquisition of academic excellence in the comity of states.
