The ongoing roads construction, embarked by the Kaduna State Government, has started bringing a sigh of relief to residents who ply these roads daily.
The roads project which are between 70 to 99 per cent completion in some areas, are gradually changing the face of the state.
Also, for those who were away for sometime before visiting Kaduna, have to ask, to find thier way, since some areas now wear new looks.
For example, the Aliyu Makama Road which starts from Station Roundabout and ends at Prisons Staff Training School, Barnawa, when completed, will serve motorists from that axis who are going to the metropolis or are coming to the south.
This is a very big achievement for the state, and a plus to the residents. The traffic gridlock experienced in the past is gradually disappearing.
The former Leventis Round About now has a new style, were the colonial design has since given way for a modern underpass.
These achievements also come with a price on the roads. The heavy duty trucks conveying construction materials to sites, leave very bad marks on the roads.
The deplorable state of these roads is becoming worrysome to residents and motorists. Before now, these roads were better and manageable to motorists, who ply these routes daily.
For example, the Narayi Junction Road is becoming an eyesore by the day, where motorists have to wait to take turns before driving through.
Also, the Namaigero section of the road, is also gradually becoming a nightmare. This is around the bridge that links Narayi and Namaigero.
Some residents, who spoke to this medium, pleaded with the state government to as a matter of public interest, call on the contractor handling Aliyu Makama Road, Barnawa to amend the damages caused by their trucks on Narayi roads, before the ends of the project.
“The state government is doing well, when it comes to infrastructure development, but the damages caused by these contractors, handling various roads projects on other roads not captured that they use in conveying their materials with heavy duty trucks in the state, should be repaired in order to have a smooth movement around,” a resident said.
