Commissioner Harps On Grassroots Sports Development As Nimrod Inter Secondary School V/Ball League Serves Off In Kaduna

As the Engineer Musa Nimrod Inter-Secondary Schools Volleyball League served off in Kaduna on Thursday, the state Commissioner of Youth, Sports and Culture, Honourable Daniel Danauta has called on individuals and sports enthusiasts to contribute their quota towards grassroots sports development in the state.
He made the call while volleying:off the inter secondary schools volleyball league ongoing at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium with 24 invited schools set to participate with eight of the schools partaking in the opener.
The commissioner expressed delight with the sponsor of the league, expressing optimism that talents will be discovered, adding that “my call is to sports administrators to identify young and strong talents at the secondary school levels and make them available for higher development.
“I want to commend Engineer Nimrod for his unrelenting commitment towards promoting sports in the state and country at large and called on others to emulate him in keying into the state’s focus and dreams in sports development at grass root.
Engineer Nimrod who is the President Nigeria Volleyball Federation and Kaduna State Volleyball chairman is known for sponsorship of sports in general at grass root levels with the sole aim of talent discovery.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Secretary of the Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) anchoring the league, Abdulrazak Usman disclosed that so far, eight schools have registered for the league.
He gave the names of the schools as, Grays International College, Air Force Comprehensive, GSS Narayi, GSS Romi, The Victory International Schools, Federal Government College Malali, Deeper Life High School and Queen Amina College.
Prizes and medals are expected to be given to winners and outstanding players at the end of the league, he further disclosed.
