Kaduna State Commissioner for Sports Development, Mr Samaila Idris Nyam has commended the Kaduna State Athletics Association (KAA) for Organising the 2022 Talent Hunt Athletics Competition, optimistic that some talents discovered there would go ahead and do the state proud at the next National Sports Festival (NSF), billed for Delta State later this year.
Honourable Nyam expressed this, while speaking as the special guest of honour at the competition held at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Friday June 10, 2022.
“I want to commend the Kaduna State Athletics Association (KAA) board for this laudable programme. It has never been like this in Kaduna State.
“This is a new innovation by the KAA board and this is just the beginning. I learnt they would be taking the grassroots athletics competition to Kafanchan in the next two or three weeks,” he said.
Represented by the Director of Sports, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim, was optimistic that soon Kaduna would be topping national outings, with constant hosting of such competitions
“The KAA board has been doing well and if they continue like this very soon Kaduna will be the state to beat in athletics in Nigeria because innovations like this is what stand states out in the country.
“Athletics is the basis of all sports and that is why if there is problem in athletics it affects other sports,” he said.
To the athletes, he urged them to continue to train hard, listen to their coaches and follow instructions because they are the ones guiding them.
“The most important aspect of sports is discipline, so always ensure that you are disciplined and you will go far in your sport.
“The state is preparing for the National Sports Festival and we hope to do well there, some of you will be there. I thank the KAA board for this grassroots talent hunt competition and I hope it would continue,” he said.
