The people oriented member representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba, suspended all campaign activities and responded immediately to the emergency situation in Ovukwa Community by paying a visit to the affected area.
He paid homage to the chief’s palace and held a meeting with men, women and youth leaders and sensitized them on the need to take precautionary measures in order to stay alive and well.
He encouraged them to always wash their hands after using the convenience before cooking or eating and to also boil their water before drinking.
Etaba also gave financial mobilization to various groups with strict directives to rush all victims to any nearby Health facility for immediate treatment.
He re-emphasized that he does not want to hear any more deaths in Obubra local government area.
As part of precautionary measures he mounted a stationary ambulance at the community health center for easy evacuation of victims to the health facilities in case of any emergency.
Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba made available additional cash support to the ambulance operator to ensure that he does his job efficiently without truncating the process because lives are involved.
The people were very appreciative of the immediate response by the member of parliament which is indicative of the fact that he is grassroot sensitive.
He suspended all preparations for the visit of Governor Ben Ayade and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Train to Obubra Local Government Area for official campaigns and rushed directly to Ovukwa Community on a fact finding mission and to provide succour to the people before returning back to the campaign grounds to fulfil his obligation to party.
Rt. Hon. Etaba thanked the people for their kind words as he further pledged to leave no stone unturned to ensure that Obubra nation is totally free of the Cholera epidemic.
