Chikun LG Polls: Lawmaker Hails el-Rufai On EVM, Credible Polls

Following the peaceful conduct of the local council elections in Chikun Local Government Area, member representing the Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Honourable Ayuba Ishaku Chawazah has hailed Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai for not giving victory to the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC), but allowing the will of the electorate to prevail.
Honourable Chawazah expressed this on Monday morning in Kujama, after candidate of his party the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engineer Salasi Nuhu Musa was declared winner by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM).
“This is truly what the Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai said, that the election will be free and fair.
“He instructed that whoever wins the election should be given his mandate.
“I want to commend his Excellency for doing the first of its kind in NIgeria by introduction of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). I want all others to emulate him,” he said.
According to him, with what was observed during the conduct of the polls and announcement of results, NIgeria is making progress democratically.
“What we have seen this morning is a sign we are growing democratically,” he said.
Honourable Chawazah described the election which was conducted on Saturday September 25 as peaceful,  free and fair.
On the local government secretariat in Kujama back in the hands of his party, he described it as a welcome development.
“Chikun has always been PDP there has always been overwhelming support of our party in Chikun. This victory is an indicator of what should be expected in 2023,” he added.
The lawmaker urged all those that won at the polls to hit the ground running by providing dividends of democracy to the electorate.
