Concerned Northern Forum (CNF) has described the call for the sack of the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa by some civil society groups as satanic, wicked and lacks human understanding.
Making this remarks at Arewa House, Kaduna, on Thursday March 16, in his statement, Chairman of CNF, Alhaji Aliyu Sani said that as the only chairman of the commission to have risen from the ranks, Mr. Bawa was the most qualified chairman the commission has had since its inception and wondered why some are calling for his sack and impartial and neutral he has discharged his duties since assumption of office.
“Mr. Bawa has not in any way influenced arrests of accused persons or allowed himself to be used as an agent of torture to opposition parties. So for some wicked Nigerians to be calling for his removal is uncalled for”.
According to him, Mr. Bawa has discharged his duties according to the ethnics of the commission and as a trained professional and as such followed the tenets of the administration of President Buhari’s fight against corruption.
“He has followed the fight against corruption and as most Nigerians have clamored for youth participation in governance in the past, he qualifies as representative of youths in governance,” he added.
It would be recalled that on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, some Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) had in Abuja called for the sack of the EFCC Boss claiming corruption, partiality and high handedness as reasons.
Alhaji Sani urged Nigerians to support the EFCC Boss as the CNF passes a vote of confidence on him and thanked Mr. President for his appointment.
“The CNF passes a vote of confidence on Mr. Bawa and uses this medium to appreciate and thank Mr. President for his appointment,” he concluded.
