In his resolve to ensure that Calabar sustains its status as the most beautiful city in the country as well as the tourism epicenter, Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade, has said that the next phase of beautification will see the provision of more roads in the state capital.
Ayade who spoke against the background of the ongoing rehabilitation of major roads in the city, said particular attention will be paid to Calabar South local government.
He said apart from construction and rehabilitation of roads, the lighting systems in the state area will be activated to give the place a facelift.
Said he “I am focusing on Calabar now, particularly Calabar South to make sure that I put back all their street lights and give them more roads. The people of Calabar South need government the most because their income level is low yet they live in a city with high cost of living”.
According to the.him, “that complex combination requires sympathy and government shoulders for them to lean on, even as we beautify the city to make it look like any city in the first world”.
On the gale of endorsement across the state for his reelection in 2019, Ayade said, “I am excited that I see a whole lot of endorsements across the entire state, starting from the South. It really gladdens my heart and makes me feel far more committed to my people”.
Viewing the endorsements as a fitting recognition for the development he has brought to the state, he said it will also spur him to do more for the people.
“Perhaps Cross River state will be the first state in the country where you have both APC and PDP coming together to say, given the resources of this governor and what he has done for the people, there is no point having a struggle with him, he said”.
