The All Progressives Congress (APC), Borno State Chapter has on Monday August 8, 2022, announced the suspension of its political stalwart and former member of Buhari Campaign Organization, Hon. Barrister Mohammed Umara Kumalia from the APC ruling party for alleged engagement in anti party activities.
Kumalia was also 2007 AC Governorship Candidate and former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives at the National Assembly under the defunct ANPP before dumping the party to join Action Congress to contest Governorship election.
Then later, Kumalia dumped AC after failing the Governorship election to join PDP and later he also dumped the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest governorship election for the third time under the platform of the ruling party APC, but was defeated at the primaries by the incumbent governor, Professor Babagana Zulum in 2018 and later dragged the party, APC to court to challenge the election of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum at the polls.
The letter of the suspension of Hon. Barrister Mohammed Umara Kumalia which was made available to journalists’ in Maiduguri on Monday, was jointly signed by the APC Ward Chairman, Alhaji Modu Gofama and the Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Kagu of Limanti Ward, Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), Branch of Borno State Chapter.
The suspension letter was also addressed to Hon. Barrister Mohammed Umara Kumalia and reads, “Following the 2019 General Elections where you contested for the Governorship Primary Election in Borno State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and lost vis a vis your subsequent activities towards the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its members in the Ward, Local Government and State. The Ward Working Committee of the All
Progressives Congress (APC), Limanti Ward, Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), Borno State has observed your following activities with dismay:
“1. That you instituted various actions against the party in the following courts contrary to Article 21 (2) (XI) of the APC Constitution 2022 as amended with the;
“a. Federal High Court Maiduguri: Suit No. FHC/MG/CS/8/2019.
b. Court of Appeal Jos Division: Appeal No. CA/J/174/2019 and
c. Supreme Court of Nigeria: Appeal No. SC/797/2019.
2. Consistent engagement in acts that are inimical to the party and other anti-party activities contrary to Article 21 (2) of the APC Constitution 2022 as amended.
3. Gross indiscipline towards the party contrary to Article 21 (2) of the APC Constitution 2022 as amended.
“In view of the foregoing, that you HON. BARR. MOHAMMED UMARA KUMALIA of the All Progressives Congress APC Limanti Ward, Maiduguri,, Borno State is hereby suspended from the party forthwith. DATED THIS 8TH DAY OF AUGUST, 2022.”.
