Bauchi: Man To Face Law for Raping Own 3-Year Daughter

Bauchi Police Command has said that it would soon prosecute before a competent Law Court in the state, one Ali Lawan of Kirfi Local Government Area for raping his three-year old daughter, Hajara (not real name) on January 9, this year.

Command Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil revealed that the incident, was reported by his wife, Maryam Abdullahi to the Kirfi Divisional Police Headquarters, the day of the raping.

Maryam Abdullahi, 24yrs of Anguwar Doya in Kirfi LGA has told the police that her husband, Ali Lawan asked her to bring him a mat to lay down their daughter Hajara to sleep.

Maryam narrated the incident to the police, “She came back to the room and met Hajara laying down unconscious sweating and vomiting through her mouth, nose and her private part was swollen”.

SP Ahmad Wakil explained that police operatives took the victim to the General Hospital in Kirfi for immediate medical attention where doctors certified her to have been raped.

The suspect who was Hajara’s father, Ali Lawan was immediately arrested and investigation is ongoing after which he would be charged to court.

In a related development the police on 13th January arrested one Ya’u Haruna, 25yrs of Lim village Bununu in Tafawa Balewa LGA, who allegedly conspired with three others now at large to kidnapped one Musa Adamu of Jambil village of the same LGA.

Haruna was said to have been arrested in possession of one Locally fabricated revolver and one live ammunition, and was during investigations confessed to have on 29th December, 2021 with three of his gang members now at large committed the offence.

According to the police report, suspect Ya’u Haruna demanded the sum of N8,000,000 as ransom, and was arrested in the process of collecting the money.

SP Wakil said that Bauchi Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mamman Sanda has warned criminal elements in the state and their allies who may be nursing an agenda that are inimical to the safety and security to desist from such acts.

He stated that police operatives in the state will not relent in mobilizing all resources at their disposal to confront and neutralize criminal acts and tendencies.

Sanda pleaded with good people of Bauchi state for more support, while encouraging them to explore to the fullest the window of mutual cooperation provided by the re-invigorated concept of community policing aim at reducing crime to the barest minimum.
