Baby With Hole In  Heart Needs N9m For Surgery In India

An eight month old baby, Abubakar Sa’ad Yahaya diagnosed at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria for having a hole in his heart, is in need of N9 million for surgery in India. 

The baby according to his father, Sadiq Abubakar was initially being managed at a private hospital Mount Horeb Specialist Hospital in Kaduna, since he started having crisis from an unknown disease when he was a month old.

He was later diagnosed for recurrent bronchopneumonia, secondary to Congenital Heart Disease, that is hole in the heart, a condition that was later confirmed by series of test at (ABUTH), Zaria.

Consultant Paediatrician and Medical Director of Horeb Specialist Hospital, Dr Andeyantso Emmanuel Ayuba in a letter to the Indian Consular in Nigeria dated 22 November, 2023 said, Abubakar Sa’ad Yahaya “who is being managed in this facility as a case of recurrent bronchopneumonia, secondary to Congenital Heart Disease (Tetralogy of Fallot).

“He has been booked for possible surgical repairs in India, for which the parents have dully established a contact with a facility in India for the said definitive surgical repair. This repair is expected to be done as soon as possible, as further delay may render it ineffective if complications set in. Thank you.”

The baby’s father Abubakar however told how Correspondent that he needs assistance of well meaning Nigerians to off-set the N9 million bill. 

He said though, he has been able to mobilize the baby and his mother to India, to ensure stability of his health with donation from a good Samaritan and loan he took, he still needs financial assistance for the surgery to be carried out.
