Women have been called upon to always avail themselves to breast and cervical cancer screening in order to ensure early detection and treatment of the disease.
This was the views of stakeholders in Kaduna, during the Cancer Awareness Day held at Fifth Chukker Polo and Country Club, Maraban Jos.
The stakeholders among whom were, the wife of Niger State Governor, Dr Amina Sani Bello, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Amina Baloni, some medical experts from Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital Kaduna and Medic Aid Foundation, Dr Saannon Yates and Dr Fatima Danbatta as well as Mr Idowu Johnson, said the essence of the awareness campaign is to sensitize Nigerians especially women on how to prevent and detect breast cancer, noting that in Africa, breast cancer is under reported
According to a WHO 2017 report, Nigeria is ranked number 7 in the world with cases of cancer.
Highpoint of the occasion was remarks from participants and demonstration of self examination.
