Atiku Wins Katsina, Tinubu Follows Closely

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Katsina state Collation Officer, Professor Mu’azu Abubakar has announced the result of the 2023 Presidential elections conducted at the weekend with former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scoring 489,045 thousands votes against Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 482,283 thousands votes.

Announcing the result at the INEC headquarters in Katsina Metropolis around 2:50 am this morning, Professor Abubakar said former Governor of Kano state, Alhaji Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) scored 69,386 votes while Peter Obi of the Labour Party scored 6,376 votes.

However, all the three Senatorial Seats in the state have been won by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chief returning officer of the elections, Professor Aminu Dalhatu Kankia  made the announcement at the headquarters of the state Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) located in GRA Katsina Metropolis.

Professor Dalhatu Kankia announced the result of the three elected Senators as :- Former President (late) Umaru Musa Yar’adu’s younger brother Colonel Abdul’aziz Musa Yar’adu (Rtd) winning Katsina Central Senatorial  with 153,512 votes against Alhaji Aminu Makera of the PDP who scored 152,140 votes.

Other Senators elected are Alhaji Nasiru Sani Zangon Daura of the APC Daura Zone scored 174,000 votes against the serving Senator Ahmed Babba Kaita of the PDP who scored 161,000 votes and Alhaji Muktari Dandutse of APC Funtua Senatorial Zone scored 203,245 votes defeated Dr Garba Shehu Matazu of the PDP with 151,519 votes.

 Professor Dalhatu Kankia  said other candidates that contested the election include Gambo Abubakar Jally of NNPP got 16,05 votes,  Muhammad Mustapha Kurfi of SDP 807 votes, Aminu Gide of PRP 781 votes, Mannir M Yusuf of ADC 726 votes and Muhammad Zainab Yusuf of NRM 583 votes.

Professor Dalhatu Kankia noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission would no longer declare any election inconclusive pointing out that, places where elections did not hold due to violence or banditry 

would be marked zero.

Similarly, Professor Aminu Dalhatu Kankia announced the result of the Federal House of Representatives in State including Six (5) seats for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) they include:- Katsina central; Bakori/Danja; Mashi/Dutsi;

Kankia/Kusada/Ingawa; Batsari/Danmusa/Safana; Sabuwa/ Faskari/Kankara

Professor Dalhatu Kankia said that, All Progressives Congress (APC) won Nine seats of the Households of Representatives they are:- Musawa/Matazu;

Funtua/Dandume;

Dutsinma/Kurfi: Mani/Bidawa;

Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua;

Kaita/Jibia; Baure/zango

Charanci/Rimi/Bagarawa and

Malumfashi/Kafur.
