The commercial motorcycle operators commonly called Okada, in Kogi State capital, Lokoja yesterday, embarked on strike as they alleged that passengers accuse them of being responsible for their missing genital organs in the cause of transacting business with them.
Their displeasure with the unscrupulous passengers was made known by their state Chairman, Malam Umar Muhammed who vented their anger while interacting with newsmen in Lokoja yesterday.
He said that the image of Okada operators in down town Lokoka has been smeared by poverty stricken passengers who cannot afford to pay the transport fares charged by his members due to the economic hardship only to check criminally cause them of the crime.
According to him, several innocent Okada riders have been attacked by some of these fraudulent passengers who were unable to pay for their fares as they resort to branding them as responsible for their missing organs of production.
He said that passengers carried by the Okada riders labeled them of mysteriously harvesting their manhood after the transaction has been done and the passengers have no means of fulfilling their own part of the bargain leading to name calling and beating.
” Some of the passengers when they don’t have money to pay, they raise alarm that their manhood is missing so that they will not pay and instead of them to take the issue to the police they take laws into their own hand and beat up the Okada commercial rider, only for the people to say that there manhood has returned back to their body”, he said.
He therefore, called on the security agents and the state government to look into the issue with the aim of avoiding any problem that could lead to state of anarchy.
