Again, PDP G-5 Governors Fail To Announce Preferred 2023 Presidential Candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Integrity Governors otherwise known as the G-5, on Thursday failed to announce their endorsed Presidential candidate for this year’s general elections.

Speaking in Ibadan at the flag off of Gov Seyi Makinde second term election campaign held at Mapo Hall, the leader of the G5 Governors and Benue State Governor hinted that their choice Presidential candidate would be revealed, ” at the appropriate time.”

Gov Ortom however, quickly added that the G5 Governors remain committed PDP members and would work for all the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National and House of Assemblies candidates for the 2023 general elections.

According to Gov Ortom, the PDP National leadership should be blamed for the present situation in the party, having failed to resolve the differences arising from the party’s national convention.

“We have challenges with our National leadership. They have failed to resolve the internal crisis in the party arising from the the party’s National Convention. We shall make our resolve on this known at the appropriate time,” he said.

On Governor Seyi Makinde’s reelection, Governor Ortom urged the people of Oyo State to vote for the governor to compensate him on his good performances in the past over 3 years, saying, Gov Makinde stands as a very consistent PDP member, Gov Ortom said the Oyo state governor always stand ” for equity and justice”.

“Today, we are here to join our friend and brother for the flag off of his reelection campaign. Gov Makinde has been a consistent PDP member like all of us. We thank the people of Oyo state for supporting him and it is our hope that come 2023 general elections, Oyo state will deliver Gov Makinde”.

Also speaking, Governor Nyesom Wike advised those contesting Oyo state governorship with Governor Makinde in this year’s elections to ” withdraw now for Gov Makinde”

Governor Wike stressed that as far as knows,the only political party in Oyo state is PDP and the only way for the people of the state to appreciate Gov Makinde and his efforts in the past over three months ” is to vote for him to emerge as the second term governor.

On the Presidential election, he said the people of Oyo state should wait for Governor Seyi Makinde on who to vote for in the February 25 Presidential election.

Gov Seyi Makinde in his address assured the people of Oyo state of more dividends of democracy in his Omituntun 2.0 for the state and its people if reelected in this year’s election having fulfilled all his electioneering campaign promises in his first term in office

The governor while expressing his appreciation to the people of Oyo State and PDP faithfuls in the state for entrusting the destiny of the state under his care assuring that more developmental projects and programs will be witnessed in the state if reelected for another term of four years.

Gov Makinde stressed that he has been able to jerk up Oyo State’s IGR from about N1.7 billion to N3.8 billion as at November ending, 2023 among other achievements promised to do more for the people of the state.

The governor and other PDP candidates in the state for the 2023 polls were presented their flags by the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South) Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja.
