The Pan Yoruba socio political organization, Afenifere  is to be brought back to its core values and tradition so as to be better positioned to  pursue its mandate for the benefits of the  Yoruba Race, Nigeria and the black race generally, while insisting that the forthcoming national census should be based on biometric Method.

This was contained in a communique issued at the end of Afenifere meeting at the residence of its National leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure made available to newsmen in Ibadan.

According to the communique signed by the Afenifere National Publicity Secretary Comrade Jare Ajayi, towards this, a Committee is to be set up to achieve reconciliation and unity in the pan Yoruba socio political organization

” Afenifere is to be reinvigorated, revamped and refocused to continue to fulfill its mandate of being the Vanguard for the Yoruba Race”, it said.

The Communique added, ” To achieve this, a committee is to be set up to achieve reconciliation and unity.

” Afenifere is an Ideological Movement. It is not a Political Party. Deviation from the basic Principles of Afenifere has been responsible for the undesirable turn of events in the last two years”.

On the planned census exercise in the country, Afenifere asked the Federal Government to compel the
National Population Commission (NPC) to use Biometric Method rather than the manual method

According to Afenifere, in as much as the biometric method was successfully used for Voters’ Card registration in the country, it could also be used for the coming census exercise.

Afenifere emphasized that manual method  is prone to abuse as had happened several times in the past while Biometric Method is not.

“Arising from the above, Afenifere is to be brought back to its core values and tradition so as to be better positioned to  pursue its mandate for the benefits of the  Yoruba Race, Nigeria and the Black Race generally. In this wise, Afenifere will continue to hold its monthly meeting in accordance with its laid down principles and tradition,” the communique said.

The meeting expressed profound appreciation to the leader for hosting the meeting, other leaders present as well as members who came from Kwara, Lagos, Ekiti, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ondo and United States of America.
