AFAN  In  Forefront Of Advocating Farmers Welfare, Interests – IAR

The Executive Director Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR) Professor Muhammad Faguji Ishiyaku has said that All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has been at a forefront of advocating for the welfare and interest of farmers in Nigeria.

He stated this at an interactive session of AFAN North-West chapter, held at the conference hall of the institute.

Faguji said, it is  common knowledge that farmers play a critical role in ensuring food security and improving the economy of Nigeria.

According to him, the regional meeting of AFAN is an important platform for farmers to exchange ideas, share experiences and explore opportunities for collaboration.

In his message, the Emir of Zazzau Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli advised AFAN to unite  for a better future of the association.

Represented by the Madakin Gonan Zazzau, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa, Bamalli said, coming together of farmers association under one umbrella will see them through in all their struggles.

The emir assured AFAN of the emirate’s support and cooperation as well as assuring that its doors are open to AFAN at all times.

In his remarks, the Zamfara State AFAN Chairman who is also the Commissioner of Arts and Culture, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Birnin Magaji commended the convener of the zonal meeting.

Umar Birnin Magaji said this kind of meeting will cement the difference between members of the association at all levels.

He expressed hope that the meeting’s  recommendations will be forwarded to the stakeholders and agricultural ministries for consideration and implementation.

Earlier in his welcome address, the convener of the meeting and Chairman AFAN Kaduna State, Alhaji Nuhu A. Mini said the purpose of the meeting is to discuss issues that can benefit Nigerian farmers.

He said the meeting will also bring together all farmers under one umbrella to have a united association.
