The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has assured that in 24 months, all sections of Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway will be completed.
Senator David Umahi made the disclosure on Friday during an inspection of the Abuja-Kaduna section of the highway.
The minister, accompanied by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Economy, Wale Edun, explained that the government made the new timeline after reaching an agreement with the contractor of the road, Julius Berger Construction Company.
The President Muhammadu Buhari-led government had given the contract in 2018 on a completion month of 36 months but was unable to fulfill its promise.
Umahi, while speaking during the inspection, blamed the delay on lack of fund, assuring of government’s commitment to end the road on time.
He said, “Julius Berger had agreed to complete 15 kilometers daily because the new date was agreed on.”
