Many are not aware today, especially the youth in Sanga Local Government Area that the council we boast of and are struggling to represent at all levels, is a child born out of the divine passion of the current Administrative Officer (AO) to the President of the federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, Alh Abdullahi Maikano.
He succeeded in carving a space in the ongoing political struggles for the emancipation of the downtrodden, when he was the Chief Detail to Her Excellency, the wife of the former military leader, late Gen Sani Abacha in 1997.
Born with passion and a strong conviction to effect positive change in the lives and spheres of his people in Sanga and indeed Southern Kaduna, Alh Maikano has been a quiet and unassuming security watchdog with vast experience in administrative and social arrangements.
Even though not an astute politician, his sagacious level of impact on the generality of Nigerians devoid of ethnic and religious divide, is one unique virtue that even his traducers can’t wish away.
Born and raised from a lowly background, Alh Maikano has attracted numerous developmental traits to Sanga, his ancestral community within the last seven years, top among which are human and capital projects.
A passionate leader with the attributes of humanness, meekness, empathy, loyalty to leaders and above all, the fear of Allah.
Maikano never allowed his concomitant lowly background to affect his normal tendencies as a devoted Muslim, but with passion for the emancipation and development of the poor.
He gives his lot to the society and in fact, what they hardly expected and in return, he has earned their respect, but declined traditional titles, a virtue that accorded him an edge over other public office holders in Sanga and indeed Southern Kaduna and Kaduna State in general.
A man that lobbied for the creation of Sanga and Wamba local government areas of Kaduna and the Nasarawa states and the all encompassing Sanga Chiefdom that is now divided into Arak, Ninzo, Ayu and the latest being Gwantu chiefdom.
A man that gave jobs to the teaming youth of Sanga and environs, ranging from the military, police, para military formations and the civil and public service. A pillar par excellence and an indefatigable promoter and projector of his ancestral community, Sanga.
Alhaji Maikano has empowered the youth through his spirit of mentorship as the number of youth employed under his influence are too numerous, cutting across ethnic, religious and party affiliations.
It is on record that the various levels of successes in tandem with development in Sanga are connected to him. He single handedly paved way for the creation of the ongoing eastern federal by-pass road from Numbu to Gwantu Kurmi and establishment of the ongoing national power transmission sub-station in Gwantu, the administrative headquarters of the local government area, to boost electricity supply to his rural people.
Again, through his influence and loyalty of purpose to president Buhari, the Administrative Officer to the C- in- C whom at a time acted as the Chief of Staff to the president, has also attracted to his people, one of the four newly established federal schools to be sited in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
To many, as the name connotes, Alhaji Maikano sounds like a name from Kano, but alas, the man is from Gwantu in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
No wonder, Governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai holds him in high esteem, considering his track records and invaluable contributions to societal development.
He nominated the incumbent Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe to her principal, as well as pushed for the appointment of the two current permanent secretaries in the Kaduna State public service, in view of the need to abridge the gap and dichotomy amongst the Southern Kaduna ethnic divide.
Alh Maikano has a strong conviction that corruption amounts to the squandering of public trust, hence he has always shopped for leaders to serve and not rulers with passion to steal and shortchange the average Sangalite.
Full of compassion and empathy, the Administrative Officer to President Muhammadu Buhari is God sent and a humble leader with followers, especially now that the 2023 elections are approaching.
To this end, there is the urgent need for the people of Sanga and indeed, Southern Kaduna to key into the developmental principles of this great son of the land towards supporting the various APC candidates in the area for the overall good of our people.
This is because his unique sense of service to humanity is capable of standing the test of time.
