6 Div NA Competition 2022: 2 Brigade Emerges Overall Winner

The 2 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) has emerged overall Champion in the just concluded Inter-Brigade Warrant Officers (WOs) and Senior Non Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) Competition 2022 organised by the 6 Division NA.

The Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Capt. Samuel Akari, mentioned this in a statement made available to the newsmen in Uyo on Sunday.

Akari in the statement said the 5-day event which took place from June 13 to 17 was held at Willington Bassey Barracks, Ibagwa Abak in Akwa Ibom.

According to him, the event saw competitors competing in various events such as Map Reading, Weapon Handling, Drill, Physical Fitness/Obstacle Crossing and Combat Swimming. 

He said the 2 Brigade scored a total point of 466 to emerge the overall winner, after taken first position in all the event competed upon. 

Akari added that 63 Brigade NA came second with a total point of 411.5 while 16 Brigade NA came third with a total point of 333 and 6 Division Garrison came fourth with a total point of 300.5.

The Assistant Director Army Public Relations said the closing ceremony was witnessed by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division NA, Maj.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.

He said Oluyode was represented by the Commander 46 Engineer Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Bayode Adetoro, who congratulated the winner, as well as other competitors for their performances.

 The GOC in his remarks, quoted the words of a Chinese General and military Strategist, Sun Tzu, “War is a matter of vital importance to the State. It is a matter of life and death. A path to safety or to win. The Army that trains the most is most likely to win the war.” 

The stated that they were here to train and that they had put before combat proficiency and were now looking at leadership skills, team work, team spirit, among other things. 

Other notable dignitaries present at the occasion included, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Akwa Ibom on Security Matters, the Commander 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig-Gen. Abubakar Wase, among others.
