4,365 FUDMA Students Graduate At Combined Convocation

No fewer than 4,365 students of Federal University Dutsin-ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State graduated at the weekend during its 7th and 8th combined convocation ceremony with various honour degrees and three prominent individuals conferred with honorary doctorate degrees.

Former Governor of the State, Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema, Emirs of Daura, Dr Umar Faruq Umar and Bichi in Kano State Dr Nasiru Ado Bayero were the prominent figures who received the Doctorate degrees for their outstanding contributions to the development of the Society and the University.

 Speaking on behalf of the recipients, at the venue 

of the event in Dutsin-ma, Barrister Shehu Shema who was

conferred with a Doctor of 

Law (Honoris Causa) by the University credited FUDMA with shaping his journey in life and expressed gratitude to the educators for their guidance. acknowledging that, the university laid the foundation for his success.

Barrister Shema assured  to uphold the University’s values and enjoined graduands to be the

 symbols of the privileges that a well-tailored education offers.

Shema who narrated  how he convinced former President Jonathan to establish the University in Dutsin-ma, commended it’s management  for  excellence in education and service to the people of Dutsin-ma, Katsina and Country in general.

Speaking at the occasion, Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda said his administration ‘s commitment to the education sector remain unwavering.saying that, since coming into power his Government has rehabilitated three hundred and sixty one public schools at the cost of over two billion Naira. 

Governor Umaru Radda reiterated that, his government has also employed over seven thousand teachers and constructed seventy five secondary schools under AGILE programme.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda emphasized that, three special model schools for talented children have been established in Katsina, Daura and Funtua Zones respectively.

Chancellor of the university his Majesty king Dandeson Jaja of Opobo complained that, the university was seriously facing security challenge.

King Opobo who is also the Chairman Council of Traditional Rulers in Rivers State, said FUDMA was unable to utilize the structures and other facilities at the main campus due to the fear of bandits attack.

However, Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi said,the university Commended Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema for his foresight and contribution the development of the Institution.

Professor Hamisu Bichi  while appreciating the efforts of Governor Dikko Radda on his commitment on education, acknowledged the mutual understanding between the University and its host Community.” the University is graduating four thousand three hundred and sixty five students,” Professor Bichi added.

Highlights of the event was the donation of an ambulance by President of Maryam Abacha University in Niger Republic, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo in honour of Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema to the Federal University Dutsin-ma.          

Dignitaries present at the 7th & 8th Combined Convocation Ceremony of the Institution’s includes:-Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumin Kabir Usman, Former Governor of the State, Aminu Bello Masari, Speaker, Katsina State House of Assembly, Right Honourable, Nasiru Yahaya Daura, Chairman National Hajj Commission, Dr Jalal  Arabi  and Former Deputy Governor of the State, Barrister Sirajo Dan Yaro Damari.
