As the 2023 general elections draw closer, Zamani Foundation has  brought together women groups, associations and networks in Kaduna State for a four-day capacity strengthening session on prevention of violence against women in politics and trained the women on documentation, Monitoring and Evaluation and reporting of incidences of violence against women in politics in Plateau and Kaduna states.

The capacity building had experts on peace, security, early warning and stability, with a focus on cross-cutting issues such as gender, and the protection of women in the political process with the sole aim of ensuring sustainable peace and women participation in the political process in the country.

The 4-days engagement brought together Women groups, associations and networks active in the field of peace and security, working on governance and political participation as the primary participant group as part of the activities in the 4-day engagement of the programme.

The 4-day programme also has candidates and old female politicians who were there to serve as a hub for the mentoring and sustainability of the process in attendance throughout the sessions.

The Executive Director, Zamani Foundation, Mrs Talatu P. Zamani-Henry, while welcoming the participants address explained the overview on the project mentioned, saying that the activity was made possible by the Norwegian Embassy and UN women.

She asked the women to be prepared to learn and expand their capacities as the seed planted would germinate, blossom and expand, suggesting that women should be prepared to at the end of the session give a detailed report on all they have learnt and what they intend to do with what they have learnt so that more women will become aware of what is expected of them in the maintenance of peace and involving themselves in the political process in Nigeria.
