Governor Bala Mohammed has observed that the presidency is for all the geo-political zones of the country, but the North East and South-East were the most eligible zones for the slot in the 2023 general elections.

According to the governor, the two geo-political zones of the North-east and South-east have not had the slot for too long after their short stint in the 60’s, compared to the other zones of the country.

The Governor, who was speaking while receiving the report of his presidential ambition contact committee that made consultations across the country, said however that in his party the PDP, the last president was from the South who was “My President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan”.

“During the period my party was at the centre for 16 consecutive years, 14 of these years we were led by people from the South, so where is the justice and justification, so it is the turn of the North now”, Bala positioned.

He attributed the power shift being championed by the political class to today’s leadership of the country being piloted by President Muhammadu Buhari who was from the North, and would be finishing his tenure by May, 2023, hence under APC power should shift to the South.

The Governor further explained that there could be better hands for the presidency everywhere in the country, and even better than the now aspirants, saying “If we want to be justice and equitable to Nigerians especially the younger generation, it should be given to everybody”.

He therefore stressed the need to afford Nigerians the opportunity to elect or recruit the best that can provide solutions to the numerous problems bedeviling the country, such as insecurity, poverty, bad governance and unemployment, among others.

“We have a lot of poverty, people are dissolution, governance has never been like before, even the centre is confused because our leadership recruitment is very poor, which today some of us say no”, Bala frowned.

Bala, while noting that the reward system has never been so much poor, politics is not the winner take all, and called for completion redistribution of the national resources to meet the need of every segment of the Nigerian society.

He also noted that all the presidential aspirants in the country are eminently qualified for the nation’s plum job, but advised that aspirants should be left to discuss among themselves with special preference to the unity, security and economics of the country.

“We must have baseline studies of our problems and challenges. Where we are, where we want to go, how we are going to go, and with whom we want to go. This is what we should do, coming up with a roadmap, a plan, we should not be coming into governance blind-folded just because of our being ambitious”.
