2023 Polls: Abide By INEC Rules On Campaign Guidelines, Oyo NSCDC Tells Politicians

With the commencement of electioneering campaign for the 2023 general elections, the Oyo State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) CC Michael Adaralewa on Tuesday, tasked political parties and politicians to abide by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rule on  campaign guidelines .

Commandant Adaralewa handed down the task during an interactive session with  the HOD’s, Area Commanders, HOU’s and Divisional Officers in all the 33 Local Councils and 35 LCDA’s held at the State Command headquarters, Agodi Ibadan

The NSCDC Commandant warned that “anyone found doing anything against the guideline will be dealt with according to the law”, adding that politicians and their followers should embrace peace and conduct themselves well during  their electioneering campaign .

Commandant Adaralewa while emphasizing that there is the need for politicians to always embrace ” peace and know that they cannot govern over the dead’’ pointed out that ” political parties should inform the security agencies of their Campaign programme in other to provide adequate security at the campaign ground and also to maintain Peace, Protection of life’s and National Assets of the country.”

He then charged all the stakeholders involved in the electioneering process, to starting from the campaign and proper election time be God fearing in discharging their duty.

Commandant Adaralewa however urged officers and men of the corps especially Arms Squad, Agro Ranger, Female Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit ” to see themselves as part of the process to achieve the smooth electioneering by not compromise with the assignment given to them because Nigerians are looking up to them for good results”.

According to Commandant Adaralewa officers and men of the Corps are receiving training and retraining all the time especially on the ways to prevent abnormality during the campaign and election time. 

Tasking traditional rulers, Baale, Community Leaders, Religious Leaders and Landlords Associations to warn all their subjects to conduct themselves in a manner that would not bring violence before, during and after the election, Commandant Adaralewa asked officers and men of the corps to be law abiding and good ambassador of the organization.
