2023: PDP Presidential Candidate Should Come From South, SW Caucus Insists

South West Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday, insisted on the zoning of the party’s Presidential slot for the 2023 general election to the Southern region
This was contained in a seven-point communiqué issued at the end of the SW PDP Caucus  meeting held at the Oyo State Government House in Ibadan.
Reading the communique, the PDP National Vice Chairman, Hon  Olasoji Adagunodo said the  South-west PDP caucus position was in line with the Southern Governors Forum stand  that the next president of the nation comes from the south.
” The South West Zone is in support of the Southern Governor’s forum that the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should come from the South”, he said
Hon Adagunodo added, “we the PDP in the South West believe in the corporate existence and unity of Nigeria.The Unity of the South West is a non negotiable issue, to this end, we demand that all dispute resolution mechanisms should be on the front burner.”
The PDP National Vice Chairman noted that the party also called for fairness, justice and equity in the distribution of federal positions and appointments, adding that it would support all efforts geared towards national cohesion through equitable sharing of federal positions among the geopolitical zones.
Hon Adagunodo stated further that the ” zone has agreed that we should do everything possible within our power to deliver Osun and Ekiti States to the party in their forthcoming off season governorship elections.”
“The zone is desirous of fairness, Justice and equity in the distribution of Federal positions and appointments and will support all efforts geared towards National Cohesion through equitable distribution of federal positions and appointments amongst the geopolitical zones of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
“The South West Zone Reaffirms its position on restructuring of Nigeria.”
Governor, ‘Seyi  Makinde while speaking at the meeting  appealed to PDP  leaders in the South West to be united ahead of the 2023 general elections and  enjoined South West PDP gladiators to sheath their sword and allow peace to reign in the interest of the party. 
The meeting was attended by a former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; a PDP chieftain, Chief Bode GeorgeSenator Francis Fadahusi, former Governor Ayodele Fayose, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja.Prof. Olusola Eleka, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Prince Diran Odeyemi, Sikiru Ogundele among others.
