In what could be described as another blow to the new electoral law,   Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  in Plateau State has accused the ruling APC in the State  of vandalizing their billboards and posters within Jos metropolitan during the recent visit of “our popular Presidential candidate’?.

“Our attention has been drawn to another act of cowardice by the APC in the state. Of recent again, is the attack on our campaign,” the statement by the state publicity secretary, Mr. John Akan.

“Most notably is the act of vandalism at the last gate of Dadin Kowa. This  remarkable billboard was sponsored and mounted by a great philanthropist and lover of PDP and a gubernatorial aspirant in the 2022/23 primaries, Chief Kefas Rotshak alias KEFIANO.”

Àccording to the opposition party in the state, ” this destruction we gathered was sponsored by the APC’s leadership in the state, through their agents, namely Musa Umar and Lawan Adamu, all of Dadin Kowa community as disclosed by the criminal,  one Gabriel Oruku alias Alaye, who was caught in the act on Wednesday, 14th day of December 2022.”

The statement added that the person is now currently on detention for further interrogation by the police in the state capital.

“We are trusting and confident  the Commissioner of Police will prosecute  this criminal  in line with the provision of the law.

“We are also calling on the Commissioner of Police, CP Bartholomew Onyeka Namdi and other security agencies to note and warn this criminals and undemocratic attitude of the APC leadership in the state, to avoid any  provocation and a confrontational situation that may culminate into breakdown of public peace.

“It is now in the  public domain how the APC leadership together with its governorship candidate in the state, Dr Nentawe Yilwada are going about their desperate bid to discredit the overwhelming majority support the PDP has gained and still gaining in the state, having lost touch with the people,” they lamented further.

The party also alleged that “massive turnout of our supporters to welcome  our Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and his vice -Gov Okowa, our National Chairman Dr Iyorchia Ayu and other leaders of our great party  was a big embarrassment and very disturbing to APC as they witnessed genuine Plateau faithful and our mammoth crowd was unlike the hired crowd of the APC who were imported from neighboring states during their confused Presidential flag off.

“The  dream of the APC  towards actualizing their already failed mission of retaining power was shattered as Atiku’s visit  indeed poses  a big threat to them. Their grand plan is  to deliberately create a tensed atmosphere, where their unabated attacks on innocent Plateau citizens and the party will continue without being arrested and prosecuted”.

They want the state  Commissioner of Police to know that the “APC are deliberately planning to force our hands so that they could have what to hold on to as their campaign mantra against the PDP to retain power through the back door which their mission is dead on arrival”.
