The Grassroots Women’s Choice (GWC), an umbrella of women societies in Jigawa State, have pledged their support for the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in casting their votes to Dr. Mustapha Sule Lamido to ensure his emergence as duly elected governor of the state come 2023 gubernatorial elections.
The State Coordinator of the forum, Haj. Balaraba Abdullahi gave the assurance when she led members of the forum on a courtesy call on the Director General, Santuraki Campaign Directorate, Alh. Nasiru Umar Roni in his office.
Haj. Balaraba assured that the forum will embark on women voter education to reduce the menace of invalid votes, appealing for support and cooperation of the directorate to enable it achieve its set objectives.
Responding, the Director General of the Santuraki Campaign Directorate, Alhaji Nasiru Umar Roni assured them of the directorate’s readiness to work hand-in-hand with the forum to ensure the emergence of Mustapha Sule Lamido.
According to the DG, women have important role(s) to play in PDP and its government under Gov. Mustapha Sule Lamido come 2023.
The Deputy Director General of the Directorate, Hon. Nasiru Muhammed Sparrow and Umar Danjani, Director, Youth Affairs were among the top officials who received Grassroots Women’s Choice for being the first association to pay such a courtesy call.
In a related development, the opposition PDP has boosted its preparedness towards taking over the mantle of leadership from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) through the formation of its campaign structures in place as well the formation of its coordinating campaign head office in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
A maiden meeting in actualising it’s dream has kick started with the holding of its first joint meeting between Santuraki Campaign Council and Santuraki Campaign Directorate at the directorate’s headquarters along Ibrahim Aliyu Bye Pass Road, Dutse, Jigawa State Capital.
In his welcome address, the chairman of the campaign council, Alh. Isa Ahmed Duniya Bahutu, reminded the attendees of the enormous responsibilities bestowed on them by PDP and its candidate and therefore, urged all to double their efforts to ensuring the success of the party during the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
He said all members of the committees were selected and appointed based on merit and therefore, called for mutual understanding and cooperation amongst members.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Director General of the Campaign Council, Alh. Nasiru Umar Roni said the meeting was aimed at bringing members of the two committees together to familiarise among themselves.
He called on the members of the bodies to ensure working as a team as expected of each and every member of the affected committees.
