Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 25-year old Najibu Shehu who killed his 60 years old step mother, Asiya Mohammed with pestle and injured and broke the leg of his father.
A statement from the office the state Commissioner of Police, CP Idrisu Dabban Dauda said, “on August 18, 2022 at about 1600hrs, one Najib Shehu, ‘M’, aged 25yrs of Ambassador Quarters, Katsina, had a misunderstanding with his step mother, Asiya Mohammed, ‘F’, aged 60yrs of the same address.”
According to the statement, Najibu Shehu went into the kitchen, grabbed a pestle, hit her severally with it on her head and as a result of which she sustained head injuries and was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The statement said in the spur of the moment the suspect, Najibu Shehu also hit his father severally with the said pestle on his leg and he sustained fracture in different places on his leg.
The statement reiterated that the suspect has been arrested and confessed to the committing the offence,.pointing out that, the said pestle has been recovered as exhibit, while “Investigation is ongoing.”
