Youth under the aegis of Katagum Youths Salvation Forum in Bauchi State have endorsed the aspiration of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom they described as the most outstanding presidential flagbearer in the 2023 general elections.
They argued that if eventually elected onto the nation’s plum seat, the former Lagos State Governor would salvage the country from the doldrums of abject poverty, healthcare services, and save the people from political chaos and social corruptions.
The forum’s chairman, Comrade Umar Idris Chinade said that they have evolved strategies aimed at raising the political consciousness of the people, particularly the electorate on who to vote or reject in the forthcoming general elections slated for the year 2023.
He told the press in Azare, headquarters of Katagum Local Government Area on Friday, that unless the electorate are adequately enlightened and informed, the 2023 polls would see the emergence of retrogressive leaders who would rekindle a pitch characterized by corrupt leadership, economic downturn and insecurity upsurge.
Chinade noted that the former Lagos governor who is economically triumphant would not in any way siphon public money or jeopardize the Nigerian economy, but rather promote and diversity the economy, develop the nation’s infrastructure, secure the country for peaceful co-existence and foreign investments, arrest social disorder and salvage citizens from abject poverty.
“We are now conducting town hall meetings across our various polling units and electoral wards in Katagum zone comprising of seven Local Government Areas of Katagum, Shira, Zaki, Gamawa, Giade, Itas/Gadau, and Jama’are aimed at reawakening and educating the people generally on the dangers of having incompetent leadership”, he said.
Comrade Chinade disclosed that the forum is synergizing with about fifty (50) registered clubs and associations at the local government, district, hamlet and ward levels in Katagum and Jama’are emirates that are together educating the people on competent candidates to vote in the forthcoming general elections.
According to him, the forum had since 2015 been advocating the All Progressives Congress as a political party under which platform it has been enjoying democracy dividends, regretting however that some electoral wards are yet to enjoy such dividends, and called for more patronage to enable at least each electoral have a palate of democracy.
He explained that as an organization with its tentacles at the grassroots, the forum has been receiving complaints that people in some wards are yet to witness any share of democracy under the present dispensation, and stressed the need for elected representatives to constantly visit their constituents so as to know their problems or constraints.
He revealed that some of the complaints the forum usually received from the electorate included harsh living condition, abject poverty, economic strangulation and insecurity challenges, and called for prayers for the Almighty to guide the people elect credible leaders in 2023 polls that could salvage them from predicaments.
The chairman therefore called on electorates in Bauchi state to vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Ambassador Sadique Baba Abubakar in the 2023 polls, describing him as a patriotic citizen who is fully devoted to serve his country and his state of Bauchi.
Chinade however advised the APC governorship candidate to put his electioneering campaign team in good order as, according to him, there are those with multiple faces or divided loyalties who could neither assist subordinates in the struggle nor give any helping hand, but rather capitalize as pillars of the party
He also wants the APC governorship candidate identify with his unpretentious disciples be they individuals or collectively as an organization, associations, forum or whatever, and assured of the forum continued vigorous campaigns for the success of the party at the polls.
Chinade, while describing electioneering campaigns as money spinning exercise, called on committed stakeholders to assist the forum with means of transportation to ease members’ movement now that whistle for commencement of politicking campaigns is about to be officially blown.
