*Urges Adamawa to make history by voting first female governor in Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari has called upon the people of Adamawa State to make history by voting Senator Dahiru Ahmed popularly known as Binani as the first female governor in the state and the country at large.

Buhari who was in Yola, the Adamawa State capital to flag-off the All Progressives Congress (APC), presidential and gubernatorial campaign, said Binani’s election will open opportunities for women in the country and send a signal to the world about Nigeria’s leadership maturity.

“I came here to identify with the candidate, Binani, and other candidates.

“We are here to ensure that Binani becomes the first female elected governor God willing. Her election will speak to Nigeria and the world through Adamawa State.

The president said, “We will give her our moral support. The women have been fighting from a distance, let them now come close, and also share in leadership.”

Buhari told party supporters that Binani has consistently worked for the welfare of the state and indigenes over many years, and entrusting the office of the governor to her would further strengthen her to determination to move the state to greater heights.

“You have been given the opportunity to set a record in the history of Nigeria and the annals of democracy and politics in our country by electing the first-ever female chief executive of a state in Nigeria. You cannot afford to miss such a significant opportunity

“I am, therefore, calling on all the men, women and youth of Adamawa State, the northeast and indeed the entire country, to support the candidature of Senator Aisha Binani and ensure her victory in March 2023,’’ he said.

He also asked the electorate to vote for the APC Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as President and Vice President in the forthcoming elections, and all candidates of the APC for Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly.

“I am delighted to be here today in Yola, Adamawa State, to be part of the campaign of our candidates for different offices in the country, starting from presidential to gubernatorial, national and state assemblies. It is All Progressives Congress (APC) from top to bottom.

“APC for President! APC for Governor, APC for Senate, APC for House of Representatives! APC for Assembly Members!,’’ the President noted.

“Your contributions in Adamawa State to our national development can be attested to by your output in agriculture, fishery, livestock, industry, manufacturing, commerce, mining, among others.

“Your achievements in the areas of education have made us proud and given us immense joy and satisfaction. Adamawa people are progressive in nature, and it is time to prove it once again.

The President also urged youth in the state, as well as other parts of the country to pursue values that will bring honor to their families and the country, advising that Nigeria’s image could only be improved by the citizens.

“Let me now speak to the youths of our country, and Adamawa State particularly. I want you to know that you mean so much to us. Please remain loyal and patriotic citizens, learn from your elders and behave responsibly at all times.

Also speaking, the presidential candidate of the APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to end the incessant killings and kidnapping if elected as the country’s president in February.

“There will be end to killing and kidnapping,” he promised.

Tinubu also promised to provide jobs for youths, facilitate adequate healthcare, good education amongst other “benefits of progress” if elected.

The APC presidential candidate added that his party did not have only men but also “capable women” even as he urged the party’s supporter to vote in Binani.

“We will pay attention to your needs, with Binani working together with the President, Bola Tinubu insha Allah (by God’s grace), we will bring you the benefits of progress, education, good health, welfare, you will have good water to drink. There will be end to killing and kidnapping.”

Binani was not left out, she made a passionate appeal to the people of her state to give her the opportunity to touch and transform Adamawa.

She said her administration will create job opportunities and improve security to fast-track the development of the state and pledged to ensure constant pension and gratuity as well as salaries to civil servants.

New Nigerian reports that the Adamawa rally was an assemblage of progressives led by the APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
