Pursuance to the actualization of a Southern Nigeria candidate in Aso Villa come 2023, the Coalition of Civil Society for Good Governance (CCSGG) under the code name  #thenextpresident have decided to undertake a consultation tour of Northern Nigeria with the view to X-ray leadership profiles that will fit in the final project 2023 through consolidated consultation thereby  providing an open political engagement with a focus on Southern President .
In a statement  jointly signed on Wednesday and made available to New Nigerian by Comrade Okpanachi Jacob,Convener #thenextpresident and Comrade Saleh Kanada Coordinator North East,#thenextpresident said, “we have decided to embark on a tour for consultation and verification on the candidacy of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for some reasons amongst which are,  that he is qualified for the office, that he is the immediate past president and has a term, that he is from Southern Nigeria which is one of the major focus of the Project #thenextpresident, to help clear the air on the speculations of his intent.
“Amongst these secondary reasons, power shift has become a prominent factor for stabilizing the political system in Nigeria and more so, that we are a plural society where there are divergent views on issues of national concerns, this however, remains a political engagement to review the profile of contending stakeholders against 2023, most specifically from Southern Nigeria.” The statement added.
According to the group, the consultation tour seeks to initiate a political framework of engagement with Northern based civil society groups and it will undertake interactions with youth, women and faith based organizations in furtherance of the already existing programmes of #thenextpresident.
” We shall be visiting  North CentralKogi, Nassarawa and  Kwara. For North East, Borno, Taraba and Bauchi are considered, while North West will be Kano, Kaduna and Sokoto, calling on all well-meaning Nigerians, youth, students, women and political leaders to support power rotation and shift to the South as it remains the fulcrum for balancing power in Nigeria,” the group explained.
