Former Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Honourable Cafra Caino has vowed to ensure banditry in parts of Chikun LGA becomes a thing of the past, if elected Member Representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2023.

He expressed this, while speaking at a discussion panel, organised by a non partisan political group Face To Face in Kaduna on Sunday October 30 2022.

“To end banditry in Chikun, I would build a military strike force in Juji to prevent bandits from strolling in through the Kaduna Eastern bypass,” he said.

Cafra Caino while speaking at the forum, explained that while serving as chairman of Kajuru LGA, he was able to resettle villages attacked by bandits.

He said if he becomes House of  Reps member, he would lobby for a bill to empower LGAs to create their own vigilante groups to stem bandits attacks.

The Reps candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC),  said while chairman, he built a mini barrack and raised a strike force in Maro to check persistent attacks that were occuring then.

“All the while I was chairman of Kajuru, the present House of Reps member has not for once come to Kajuru to condole victims. He has not brought a single bag of rice. I don’t know if he did that in Chikun.

“We need a Reps member that will protect his people so that they sleep with two eyes closed. I was going to the trenches with the military while LG Chairman,” he said.

Also speaking, Barrister Yahaya Washiri who is the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), said that if you go to Kajuru LGA, greater part of farmers did not farm this year.

” If you go to Chikun, you will also see that most villages are deserted.

Local vigilantes are doing their best, but are  limited in times of sophistication of weapons.

He said if elected, he would lobby his colleagues to ensure the FG does the needful.

“When these bandits were coming up, if the president tackled it, they  wouldn’t have gone this far to the extent of taking over communities,” he submitted.
