Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, has faulted the INEC recently released, 2019 electoral time table saying that the time table came out too early.

He is of the opinion that once the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announces a time table for the election, governance suffers a great deal.

Governor Okorocha, therefore urged INEC to fashion out a standing time table for general elections in the country pointing out that the already announced time table for the 2019 general elections would obviously take a toll on governance because the political players would ultimately use the time for governance, to play politics and engage in electioneering campaigns.

The governor made his opinion known, Friday, when he received in audience the new resident electoral commissioner (REC) posted to the State, Prof. Francis Emeka Eze who paid him a courtesy call in his office.

He said further that all political office holders seeking second term and those seeking for elective positions should be made to present their score cards to INEC as part of condition to re-contest or contest election.

The Governor in his words said, “As I see INEC today Coming to pay a courtesy call, I went down memory lane of how it all started. But the truth is that as I sit here listening to INEC officials, I have some kind of feelings that is so unique of remembering my Imo state 2011 and my Imo state of today we can only say to God be the glory.

The mandate given to me by the people and the INEC unbiased role brought about this government.

HE further said, we had serious running battle with INEC officials of the past but with those officials I see today and their qualifications. I have confidence in INEC”.
