It would be another opportunity for Nigeria to rekindle her jollof derby clash with Ghana as the Black Princess who yesterday beat Senegal 3-1 in the semifinal of the ongoing African Games will meet with the Falconets who had earlier reached the final after a 2-0 defeat of Uganda.

The match which will be played on Thursday March 21, 2024 at the Cape Coast Stadium will afford the defending champions Falconets an opportunity to defend their title against an ambitious Ghana side who are looking forward to get their first ever gold at this level.

Both sides have never met at this stage of the competition before, but one thing which the Black Princess will enjoy when they meet Falconet is the massive home support which they will get to enable them face a Nigerian side that are looking forward to clinch their back-to-back gold medal before the Ghanaian huge fans.

Nigeria is currently second on the table with 27 gold medals, and closely trailed by South Africa who are third on the table. An additional gold from football will be a major boost for Nigeria while Ghana who is sixth on the table with 9 gold medals understands why a gold in football is needed not just to increase their gap against Mauritius who have 7 gold medals, but to rekindle their hope in resurrecting football which seemed to have collapsed at all levels in recent times.

As both sides prepare to meet in the finals of the women football event, the Falconet who are defending champions and favourite to win the title will have to establish their superiority over the Black Princess in a clash that will be best remembered as the Jollof Derby Battle of Cape Coast.
