The 11th International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, Akparawa James Edet has called on Ibibio sons and daughters nationwide to take advantage of remaining days of the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) to register or transfer their registration to their new location.

Edet made the call, following the extension time for the exercise to July 31, 2022 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across the country.

Akparawa Edet in a statement on Monday, signed by his Special Assistant, Media/ Press Secretary, Akparawa Idongesit Ikono, stated that as the 4th largest ethnic nationality in Nigeria, the Ibibios should register en masse to reflect their strength so that their voices would be heard more in the 2023 general elections.

He commended the Akwa Ibom state government for its efforts at mobilizing indigenes and residents of the state to participate in the Continuous Voters Registration exercise.

He also acknowledged visible improvements in the country’s electoral process as evident in the recent off season elections in some states and commended INEC for restoring confidence in the system.

Edet, the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) awardee, charged the Commission not to rest on its laurels but to explore more innovations to further improve the electoral process and boost more public confidence.

The International President,  however, expressed deep concerns over the latest monster in the nation’s electoral system called ‘VOTE BUYING’ and charged INEC and security agencies to come up with adequate measures to deal effectively with the ugly trend in order to protect the sanctity of the ballot.

It would be recalled that Akparawa James Edet was sworn-in as the 11th Int’l President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio at Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio Secretariat in Uyo on Sunday.
