The maiden edition of the Mobile Money Operators/Agency Banking Fair opened in Kaduna on Wednesday, attracting participants from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Gamji Gate venue came alive as stands from different mobile money agencies who were represented were seen busy attending to different customers after the official opening ceremony.
Earlier while declaring it open, the Special Guest of Honour, acting Branch Controller, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Alh. Garba Abdulrahman described it as a welcome development.
He said the CBN was happy to be at the history making fair, being the first of its kind in the country.
In his address earlier, President of the Association of Mobile Money of Nigeria (AMMON), Alhaji Aminu Aminu Bizi commended the CBN for taking a bold step towards policy aimed at growing the mobile money market.
He explained that the e-wallet regime which is targeted at farmers and other groups from where they can access facilities was a step in the right direction.
Alhaji Bizi stressed that as at last time he checked, some funds from the Bank Of Industry (BOI) were still not been accessed by those it was meant to serve as a result of lack of necessary e-transaction knowledge by those who are eligible by law.
In an interview with newsmen after he was presented with a card for easy online transactions, Chairman of the tricycle operators in Kaduna State, Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed said that his members were happy with the partnership the mobile money has gone into with them.
He said that with the introduction of Point Of Sale (POS) to his members, it would ease doing business with their customers, as well as prevent losses that they regularly encounter from robbery and misplacement of the money they realize on daily basis.
Alhaji Mohammed commended the CBN and the Bizi Mobile Cashless Consultants Ltd for bringing in the innovation.
The Mobile Money Operators/Agency Banking Fair is a seven-day event which is organized by Bizi Mobile Cashless Consultants.
