10,939 New Students Matriculate At ABU

The newly admitted 10.939 students of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), for the 2021/2022 academic session on Wednesday,  took the oath of matriculation with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala explaining that the fresh students would be guided by the rules and regulations of the university.

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony held at Mamman Kontagora Square, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated them and pointed out that the oath administered on them formally sealed their entry into the university. 

Prof. Bala reminded the newly admitted students of their main purpose for coming to the university to acquire knowledge and skills to prepare them for a useful life and to become good citizens.

He urged the matriculating students to take full advantage of maintaining peaceful, stable and cordial atmosphere that is conducive for teaching, learning and good character building.

He also advised the students to shun any form of vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, indecent dressing and all forms of antisocial behaviour as well as refrain from associating with unapproved students bodies, societies and groups.

“As you carry out your legitimate academic life in the University, the experienced and dedicated lecturers would do their utmost to guide you to achieve and attain future career ambition”. 

“It is the goal of ABU and its affiliated institutions to produce students with great capacity not only for receiving knowledge but also for creating knowledge”, he said.

According to him, all academic programmes in the university have a maximum timeframe within which the studies must be completed.

 “You are, therefore, enjoined to utilize the opportunity given to you to study in the University and graduate to join the alumni of the great institution,” he also said. 

Prof. Bala prayed to God to give the students the courage to learn the wisdom to put the learning in the service of the country and to become worthy ambassadors and champions of the Nigerian educational system.

The matriculation oath was administered by the Registrar Malam Rabi’u Samaila.
