The Kwara Government yesterday vowed to close down all illegal motor parks throughout the state inorder to bring sanity into the system.
The state Commissioner for Works and Transport, Dr. Abubakar Kannike stated this while answering questions on the floor of the state House of Assembly.
The House had on Thursday last week summoned the Commissioner over a motion on the proliferation motor parks in the Ilorin metropolis.
According to him the Ministry has mapped out strategy to clamp down all illegal motor parks in all the 16 local government areas in the State.
The Commissioner who told the House that the Ministry approved only four motor parks in Ilorin metropolis also wondered why other illegal ones are operating.
He said the Ministry is yet to give approval to five applications before it on the establishment of
motor parks and warned operators of illegal motor parks to desist from the act.
On the sales of alcohol in motor parks, the commissioner said the Ministry is aware of its and would do everything possible to curb it.
On lack of social amenities at the approved motor parks, Kannike said the issue will be addressed so as to provide comfort for commuters.
The Commissioner was accompanied to the state house of assembly by officials from the State road traffic maintenance agency, Local Government council chairmen,members of Road
Transport Union and other Stakeholders in Transport business within the state .
