Kaduna Records 85% Polio Immunisation Success

The Kaduna State Government on Wednesday said it recorded 85 per cent success in immunisation exercise.
The State Deputy Director of the Primary Health Care Development Agency, Hamza Ikara emphasized this as part of the activities to mark Africa Vaccination Week in Kaduna.
Ikara said immunisation converage have increased by 85 per cent in the state.
”We have recorded huge success in routine Immunisation since the last two years.
”In the last three years, we recorded only 40per cent but now we have 85 per cent coverage.
He said as part of the activities to mark the vaccination week, the agency is embarking on sensitisation exercise with the Local government chairmen and overseers and also relevant stakeholders to strengthen the immunisation exercise in the state.
“We are meeting with our relevant stakeholders to assess the performances so far, where we are now, and the way forward.
“We started with the traditional rulers, Religious leaders, Youth groups and Women group.
“We want to embark on massive sensitisation to ensure general acceptance of the vaccines in the state.
Ikara added that the agency is working hard to boost the moral of participation of immunisation in the state.
“We are happy with the success so far. We succeeded in immunising households with polio non compliance in Kudan Local Government Area on Sunday.
“These intervention was led by the Deputy Governor, Barnabas Bala.
He appealed to mothers and caregivers to avail their children for vaccines all the time.
”We have over 1,500 health centers in the state and we appeal that you avail your children for vaccination.
”Vaccination is free of charge and nobody should collect money from parents or caregiver
